Bruce Elgort keeps deleting my comments!

I think he must be mad at me because I didn't deliver the next generation Domino Search engine to him yet (for IdeaJam). Well, it's not 100% ready for production, and needs lots of manual setup to make it work for custom applications. I'm planning to make an easy frontend interface so that it can be used like the normal Domino Search engine.

The interface will including things like include/exclude lists of field names, update frequency, etc...

But deleting my comments... I think it's the biggest sin of mankind to delete any Notes documents - I've personally not deleted any mails since I got Notes in 1995.
I've seen also similar things happen in discussion boards, but there the reason was that the phpBB/SMF update was not able to convert old formats to the new format.

So, if you post to Bruce Elgort's blog, please make sure you have a backup of your post, else your valuable time and idea might be lost forever! Same goes for all non-Domino based discussion boards on the web of course.

Have you thought to ask him? I've never had him delete any of my comments.

Mika,

Your comments were very derogatory. You weren't very kind to Mikkel's V1.0 of TwitNotes.

You also made a similar comment on another blog entry.

You are free to post your comments again for all to see. I won't delete them.

Well, blogs are better than e-mails in my opinion. When sending e-mails, it's just information exchange between 2 or a few more people. When communicating via blogs, over 6 billion people are informed.

Oh and regarding your search tool.....

I am not at all upset as our IdeaJam customers are just find with the default Domino search engine.

@Bruce - I think I just commented on facts. I said things like that twitter entries can't be edited. That's a fact. And I have many times made typos, which I couldn't correct. Using Domino you can make an Edit button with the formula: @EditDocument. I don't even have a database on twitter, how can I improve my own design there?
Also Domino has no predetermined limits of field sizes, so you could enter up to 4GB of text (or more, if you make your own custom logic), while twitter only supports 140 characters.
My criticism was purely at twitter.com, and not related to Mikkel's Notes 8 sidebar add-on at all. I think he has made somekind of sidebar add-on which shows twitter.com entries.

That was one comment, the other comment was that humans care about ants, but ants don't care about humans (they are so self-centered in their own society and their queen's (=Microsoft's) marshalling). That was a direct symbolism and parody to Volker's citate to the Domino vs Exchange society.

But anyway, I think that when Notes people start deleting other Notes people's documents it is such a big news, that it was worth a blog entry :)
Good to hear you won't delete my documents anymore. Maybe I should also explain the comments a bit more, else they can be misunderstood.

Mika,

It is your opinion, and Bruce has a right to do whatever he wants with comments. It is his blog. Some time ago, I did not approve one of your comments on my blog to save you from yourself.

You too, Brutus?

It's funny that Microsoft can spread lies like: "Did you know that Lotus Notes and Domino is not supported anymore, and there will be no new versions?" even to the White House!

But when someone stands up and corrects the facts, the messages will be deleted.

Hmm, that reminds me, I censored one message from a friend too :)
Well, each web site owner can make it's own choices.
